The seasonal school for members of the Regional Schools of Public Administration (ReSPA) network was officially opened at the premises of the National Academy for Public Administration on Tuesday, November 22. The three-day module "Better Drafting of Legislation" is intended for senior civil servants in the public administrations of the Western Balkan countries.
Trainees from Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will attend the programme led by experts from the European Union with decades of research and practical experience. The school programme includes interactive presentations, case studies, group exercises and a study visit to the Republic Secretariat for Public Policies in Belgrade, and the main topic of this module is the assessment of the effects of regulations and their improvement.
The event was officially opened by the director of the ReSPA network, Maja Handjiska Trendafilova, and acting director of the National Academy for Public Administration, Dejan Miletić.
Mr Miletić underlined that in the last few years, significant efforts have been made to bring the public administration closer to the needs of citizens, which has resulted in visible changes at the local and national level. However, as pointed out by acting director of the Academy, the cooperation with the countries in the region, undergoing the same political and economic processes, is key to the improvement of regulatory frameworks and policies, because it allows us to exchange experiences, best practices, and also learn from mistakes.
The Regional School for Public Administration is an international organization with the mission to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of public administration in the Western Balkans. It was established to support the creation of responsible, efficient and professional public administration systems for the Western Balkan countries on their way to joining the EU.
