The National Academy for Public Administration (NAPA) held the International Conference "NAPA - Institution of the Future" on November 30, which was opened with opening speeches given by Acting Director of the National Academy for Public Administration, Dejan Miletić, Liliane Tanguy, member of the French Parliament, Faith Akcal, First Counsellor at the Embassy of France, and Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Aleksandar Martinović.
The panels that followed assessed that, through providing the best tools and training for employees in the previous period, the National Academy for Public Administration achieved significant results in creating a professional and efficient public administration, tailored to the citizens of Serbia.
As it was said, the Academy also played an important role in the process of adapting public administrations to digital transformation and new forms of organizing the work and mobility of civil servants, which proved to be significant in times of extraordinary circumstances.
The director of the National Academy for Public Administration, Dejan Miletić, thanked the Republic of France for its support to Serbia in the transformation and creation of a professional public administration. He pointed out that the success of the Academy in the previous period was significantly influenced by agreements and cooperation with the National Institute for Public Service of the Republic of France, as well as the administrative arrangement between the two ministries responsible for the transformation of the public sector and civil service.
On this occasion, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, stated that the introduction of innovative training programmes and the use of the brand new methods and techniques in the training of employees have contributed to raising the system of professional development to a higher level, and today, only five years after the establishment of NAPA, we have close to 50,000 satisfied trainees. He underlined that MoPALSG is committedly working on the radical transformation of public administration into a modern, efficient, responsible and increasingly digital administration, but that all the set goals cannot be achieved without continuous and qualitative improvement of the knowledge, skills and abilities of its personnel.
The conference was held as a result of important bilateral administrative cooperation between Serbia and France and specified the future activities of the National Academy, the development of its role as a key and necessary institution for promoting the learning culture of employees in public administration, as well as the development of digitalization and European partnerships.
