Today, the successful conclusion of the ten-year “I Belong” campaign was marked in the National Assembly of Serbia, celebrating significant progress made in addressing the issue of persons at risk of statelessness in the country. The campaign was implemented based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Attendees at the event included Jelena Žarić Kovačević, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Ivica Dačić, Minister of the Interior, Tomislav Žigmanov, Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Zoran Pašalić, Ombudsman; Soufiane Adjali, UNHCR Representative in Serbia, and Marina Dražić, Acting Director of the National Academy for Public Administration.
